I also read “Fire” since I thought the series would be popular. It’s sort of a prequel,but not really–the two characters live in the same fantasy world. But I think fans of “Graceling” will love “Fire” because they’ll have another rocking, strong girl working her magic. And it’s in our library, too!

I just finished The Fault in Our Stars yesterday. What a great book! It’s too late in this school year to think about, but we’ve got to have multiple copies for next year. (Money, please fall from heaven.) It should be the school-wide read.

These smart characters and their witty comments, their lack of sentimental drivel make the story so much more powerful.

I’m going with John Green rather than Shakespeare on this one. The fault is in their stars.

I finished “The Future of Us” yesterday. I had to laugh at the characters’ surprise at the kinds of things that their future selves–as thirtysomething year olds–were putting on Facebook. The things that were too stupid to be bothered with–what they ate for dinner–and the things that were too personal to send out to everyone.

A friend told me that for guys, the Maze Runner is often more appealing. I do think it’s a good series. I should ask my son. He’s read all of the Hunger Games books, but only the first Maze Runner. I wonder which first book he likes best.

I personally thought that the maze runner trilogy was the better of the two series, but hunger games was good. I have some friends who agree with me on this fact as well.

sraslim–On Maze Runner–I read the first one–in fact, I read it about the same time as the first Hunger Games. I have a single review on the two on the blog, and liked both, but said if a kid only had time for one, it should be Hunger Games. Little did I know then how it was going to explode in popularity!
